Singing Superheroes Save London

Impromptu opera performances cause stir around city

Press Release: December 2009

A team of top West End ‘incognito’ performers are singing at key London locations every week to help put a smile on Londoners’ faces.

The big hearted Singing Superheroes are turning heads by bursting into opera classics on the streets of London as commuters, tourists, families and shoppers battle the triple forces of evil: miserable weather, economic gloom and the continued rise of Jedward!

And the public are responding to the mix of well known arias such as Nessun Dorma and songs from hit musicals Grease and Mamma Mia.

Fresh from serenading the Royal Mail strikers with a performance on the picket line, and getting the lunchtime crowds singing at Trafalgar Square, this week sees the lycra lads get into the swing of things with shoppers and tourists around Eros in Piccadilly.

It is part of a concept from entertainment company, Incognito Artists, to perform at worthwhile locations for those who need it most, such as children’s hospitals and hospices in the lead up to Christmas.

“The reaction so far has been fantastic. You can’t beat a bit of lycra and professional singers bursting into opera to really surprise any audience,” said Charlie Vaughan-Griffith, superhero ‘fixer’ at Incognito Artists. “Some people are having a tough time at the moment, so these fun and free performances give people something to smile about. And we want to encourage Londoners to let us know who could benefit from a surprise superhero performance, offered with genuine intention.”

So if you know of a worthy cause, contact the team on the ‘Batmail’ superheroessing@incognitoartists.com to have the Singing Superheroes surprise, entertain and amaze those Londoners that need it most.
